QuiltRocker's Story
After 45 years of working outside my home, I retired in
January 2011. I've been a quilter for
over 25 years, first making tops and stitching in the ditch to quilt them by
pushing them through my domestic sewing machine. King size quilts were a bear! Then I discovered that longarm quilters were
available to quilt my quilts and I was overjoyed not to have to do my own
quilting and also to have beautiful designs quilted on my quilts. Alas, my quilter retired and sold her machine
leaving me with no quilter! Imagine my
dismay. I continued to make quilt tops,
not knowing how they were going to be finished.
Then one day I realized I could do my own quilting and, upon reaching
retirement age, could also quilt for others if only I had my own
equipment. My quest began three years
before retiring when I purchased my midarm quilting machine. Through several trials and tribulations and
upgrades, my equipment is now wonderful.
In order to get the practice I felt I needed, I purchased many, many
quilt tops on eBay, so I wouldn't have to take the time to make them
myself. I made some Quilts of Valor and several
quilts for a local children's charity and Quilts Beyond Borders. I’ve quilted for my quilt guild’s Comforting
Quilts, primarily for Habitat for Humanity. I practiced freehand techniques while making
"doggie quilts" for a nonprofit animal rescue organization. I also donated several finished quilts to
their fundraising efforts. I'm now
retired and looking forward to helping you with beautiful designs to complement
your quilts. My love of quilting is now
my passion. Let me help you finish your
quilts with beautiful designs and patterns, with beautiful thread colors and
with beautiful results. I'd really rather quilt than build this website, so please bear with me learning that new skill.

NFL Log Cabin Quilt
I love this quilt. It is maybe the last top I bought on eBay but this log cabin quilt has fabrics from all the NFL teams on it. I quilted a football design on it in gold thread with Cincinnati Bengals fabric on the back for my boyfriend. It lives on the back of my couch during football season. Here's a close-up of a part of the back showing the design. |
